British Based Wrestlers Set For A HUGE 2019

2018 was crazy. The wrestling world went through many changes, especially in the UK. The British scene is undoubtedly one of the most exciting in the world right now - and with Indie Wrestling being cooler than ever, many different major promotions looking to sign new talent and a new era of British Wrestling on the horizon - it's time to take a look at who I think will make the biggest moves in the UK wrestling scene this year.

The Dragon Heart, Danny Jones is a stalwart of the Welsh Wrestling scene. He’s one of the most pure babyfaces in the world, and can really go in the ring, He is only 23 years old but has been wrestling for over 5 years already. He’s appeared on Progress, Attack, IPW just to name a few. Danny also spent the best part of 2017 over in Japan where he wrestled for All Japan. He also uses his experience to help give back - Danny is one of the head trainers at Dragon Pro Wrestling training school. Danny is a fantastic mix of British wrestling and Japanese psychology.

Zoe has been on the scene for a couple of years now, but one of the main criticisms she has faced is her in-ring work. Even though she comes from a gymnastics background, she wasn’t gaining in-ring skill as quickly as people expected. But let me tell you, Zoe has got MILES better in the ring. And there is hardly anybody in the UK (male or female) that does character work as well as Zoe. As far as her technical ability is concerned, she has spent quite a bit of time in Shimmer and EVE over the last couple of years - which has really helped improve her wrestling. Don’t sleep on Zoe Lucas!

When all the big UK names got signed up last year by multiple different companies, one man stood by his Indie roots and it may have been the best decision he’s made. Chris Brooks is famous for being in the tag team CCK as well as being a very sound technical wrestler. He was always upper mid-card (which is pretty good when you look at how over saturated with talent the UK was last year). But by sticking around in the UK scene, Chris Brooks has become the hottest free agent in the UK. He has a HUGE fan base, and is very good at putting butts in seats. The Octopus (fantastic nickname) is looking to be THE guy of 2019 in the UK Indie Scene.

The Freaky Princess! I am a HUGE fan of Sierra, she is great at comedy spots as well as putting on great matches. Her running hip attacks are DEADLY and she rocks a cape in her entrance. Loxton is extremely likeable and even though she is only 20 years old with just 2 years experience, she is definitely ahead of the curve as far as putting on great matches is concerned. Sierra Loxton is definitely going to be a riser in the British ranks this year.

Mark Davis and Kyle Fletcher are both fantastic wrestlers in their own respects, but as far as tag teams in the UK are concerned, Aussie Open are arguably the best. Don’t get me wrong, 2019 could be a massive year for both these guys as single wrestlers - but i want to talk about them as a team. Veteran Mark has 11 years of experience, and the young Aussie Arrow Kyle Fletcher is just improving every single match. I could see these guys wrestling in any of the big companies; NXT UK would only benefit from having them on their roster, NJPW need solid tag teams - and if AEW are really focussed on having the best tag team division on the planet, then Aussie Open is a must have for them.

TK is one of my favourite wrestlers on the planet. He was in a very successful tag team with Travis Banks, but was unfortunately sidelined due to an injury at a very crucial point. He is an incredible heel, but can also get the crowd on his side if needed. Cooper is a great talker, which was key to the South Pacific Power Trips success. Its time for TK to take his rightful place as one of the biggest names in British wrestling. And if you needed any evidence that TK is just as great on his own, as he was in SPPT - check out his Valentines Day video on Twitter. This guys is money.

Man Like Beano”. Don’t let the gimmick fool you, Beano is a TALENT. He may come across as a bit of a comedy character with his dancing and regional dialect, but its a big part of what makes Beano so likeable. He gets you on his side during the entrance, then puts on amazing matches when he gets between the ropes. Overall, Beano is still fairly green with only 3 years experience. But you definitely wouldn’t think that when you watch him wrestle. Over the last couple of months he has had fantastic matches with Mark Haskins, Mike Bird and Zack Gibson - as well as being the Iron Man in the 30 man Chaos Rumble.

Nico is fresh out of the Dragon Pro wrestling camp - and he has stole every match I have seen him in. Within his first year of wrestling - he is already one of the top high flyers in the country, he also has a fantastic look and seems destined for greatness. This is definitely the diamond in the rough to watch for this year. If you get a chance to see Nico, TAKE IT!

DNR as individuals would all be on this list. No doubt. Spike Trivet, Drew Parker, Chuck Mambo and leader William Eaver are arguably the best unsigned talent in the UK. But the reason I am not including them as individual members, is mainly because DNR feels special. DNR almost feels too big for just the UK scene, this stable could go anywhere in the world and steal the show. Between them they have charisma, mic skill, wrestling skill, psychology and along with Drew Parker being the prince of death match wrestling - you know they are going to cause destruction. DNR NEEDS to dominate the UK scene this year.
