Hall Of Fame 2019 - #FollowFriday Follow up!
Okay so this past Friday I asked Twitter who THEY wanted to see put into the WWE Hall Of Fame this year.. There was a LOAD of replies, that I have collated together to show you exactly who the wrestling fans of Twitter want to see in the HOF:
When it comes to HOF season, Owens name is always thrown around.. Owen was an IWGP Junior Heavyweight champion, as well as a European, Intercontinental, FOUR time Tag Team Champion and also a King Of The Ring winner within the WWE. He wrestled in Mexico, America, Japan and Canada and was part of one of the biggest factions in wrestling history The Hart Foundation.
So it is safe to say Owen DEFINITELY has a Hall Of Fame worthy career. The issue apparently lies with Owens widow Martha; you see - after Owens tragic death prior to his entrance at 1999 PPV Over The Edge, Martha has objected to WWE honouring her husband in the Hall Of Fame due to her feeling that the company is responsible for the death of her husband.
When former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry was inducted into the Hall Of Fame last year - he dedicated part of his speech towards making the claim that Owen should be inducted. Personally I think Owen is the biggest omission to the HOF, as he is not only one of the greatest in ring perfomers of all time, but was universally loved backstage for being the ultimate prankster.
Owen Hart NEEDS to be in the WWE Hall Of Fame.
Fit Finlay was suggested, not just because of his super long and illustrious career (THIRTY EIGHT YEARS! as well as 20 Titles). But also for his contributions to the current rise in Womens Wrestling within the WWE. In a recent news piece, Natalya wrote about how Fit Finlay has helped coach the Womens division since 2001. From Trish and Victoria, all the way up to current superestars such a Sasha Banks or the Riott Squad. All of them have high praise for how Fit has helped their careers.
Since leaving the WWE in in 2009 Tazz has commentated for TNA until 2015 and has run a very successful podcast. Tazz was a HUGE ECW Star but was only an active wrestler for 2 years in the WWE. But he maintained his presence as a Colour Commentator for the company until 2009. As far as we are aware, he is in good standing with the company - where he came back to record interviews about his time at ECW in 2016. Tazz most definitely deserves a place in the Hall Of Fame.
By far the most requested on my post, Chyna is considered one of the most important people to step into a WWE Ring. Back when women’s wrestling consisted of Divas rolling around in pools of mud in their underwear, Chyna was participating in Royal Rumbles and Intercontinental Title feuds. But after her departure from the WWE, she was definitely not a fan of the company. She went through very dark times with substance abuse and depression. Chyna found herself in the world of Adult Movies (in which one was specifically targeted towards the WWE.) . What I am trying to say is, WWE are a PG company targeted towards children. I think they worry a lot that Children will see Chyna on TV and Google her and see things they shouldn’t. But personally - Chyna is absolutely the most important woman in wrestling history and DESERVES to be in the Hall Of Fame.
Victoria had a fantastic career in wrestling. She came from the bodybuilding scene, and had a 1very long and illustrious career in Wrestling with WWE, TNA, ROH and the indies. She won PWI Woman Of The Year, a two time WWE Womens Champion and a 5 time TNA Womens Champion. With Victoria looking to retire this year, and WWE heading towards its first Womens Main Event at Wrestlemania: I think it HAS to be Victoria and/or Chyna going into the Hall Of Fame this year - as in my opinion they are the two biggest omissions as far as Womens Wrestling is concerned.
Vader is arguably one of the greatest big men of all time. He dominated in WCW, NJPW and WWE He was more so famous in Japan than the rest of world, in AJPW and NJPW he has legendary status and was a multiple time NJPW and AJPW heavyweight champion as well as a IWGP Tag Champion with Bam Bam Bigelow (who on a side note, I think he is also a guarantee for this years Hall Of Fame as it is in New Jersey).
Vader wanted to be in the Hall Of Fame before he died, it was his goal. But unfortunately he passed away before it could happen. Personally I think Vader is a shoe in for this years ceremony, and if he isn’t then it is a travesty. The only reason I can see him NOT going in this year, is because they might want to have only one Super Heavyweight going in this year, and with it being in New Jersey, I could see that going to Bam Bam Bigelow.
Now Christian was only suggested once in my poll, but Captain Charisma is also my personal pick for Hall Of Fame Class of 2019. He was one of my favourites growing up, and although his career didn’t hit the highlights that his best friend and tag partner Edge did - Christian certainly had a hall of fame worthy career as a tag wrestler and as a solo competitor. He is already a part of the TNA hall of fame, and he most certainly needs to be in the WWE Hall too. The fact that Edge is in, and not Christian just feels wrong. They BOTH deserve that Hall Of Fame ring.
