A Letter To My Three Year Old Son

Ror!

It’s been a crazy year. Our family grew from 3 to 4, and you couldn’t have taken it more in your stride. It was always a worry that having another baby would maybe cause jealousy or you would feel replaced. That was never the case in reality though. The first time you met Ace (after ignoring him for the first 15 minutes) was to give him a big hug. You showed incredible maturity and in your own bossy and commanding way - you have become pretty much a third parent! In the first few months of having Ace, whenever you heard him cry you would come straight to us, and if we couldn’t get there immediately - you would go to him and try and settle him. You share food with him, you always make sure you know where he is, and you always show love and protection for him. You are already exceeding at being a big brother. Although you are still not too hot on sharing your Spider-man figure with him, but let's not forget you are three years old!

Moving on from your fantastic job as a big brother, I want to talk about how much you have grown in the last 12 months. We had worries about your speech, but its come on SO much. All of a sudden you are hitting us with sentences, colours and numbers. You call me “Dai” (because you struggle to pronounce daddy) and everyone finds it hilarious. You’ve also continued to be really confident and outgoing. You love going for walks and adventuring to new places. Oh, and we also potty trained you! Well, it was less training and more “I am Rory and i’m bored of nappies now”. You only had a day or two of accidents, and then that was it!

Moving onto the things you enjoy. Your obsessions right now are Spider-Man, Iron Man and Captain America. Firemen. Paw Patrol (still). And my favourite thing that you love - your bamp! Any chance to see Bamp is the best part of your week - you copy him and follow him around like a shadow. He has taught you how to garden and is always trying to teach you how to ride a bike. You guys have an amazing bond. You have amassed a great collection of superhero action figures lately, and you love lining them up and taking pictures of them. Oh and let's not forget how much you love wrestling with me! Cutting promos on me with the microphone and you lock a great arm-bar!

You are currently sat with me on the sofa, its 21:30. You have your headphones on and watching Ryans Toy Review on YouTube. I am watching Summerslam and writing this!

Here is to another year of learning who you are and I know you will continue to be the absolute best little man around.

I love you!

Dad (dai)
